INTERNATIONAL
STUDIES PERSPECTIVES
A
Journal of the International Studies Association
International
Studies Perspectives (ISP)
publishes peer reviewed
interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary articles and pursues a four-fold mission:
- Publishing articles
on teaching international studies. With the increased attention
paid to innovative teaching at colleges and universities around the world,
ISP provides an outlet for high quality scholarship on international studies
pedagogy. Articles for this section might include ones on various active
learning approaches, innovations in teaching traditional topics, or understanding
how to assess student learning. This is by no means a complete
list of possible topics and we welcome submissions on all aspects of international
student pedagogy.
- Publishing articles
on applied international studies work. This section is aimed
at reaching out to practitioners in the field and engaging them in the current
academic debates, increasing our understanding of how policy is and can be
informed by scholarly research, and at providing an outlet for policy-relevant
research in the field by international studies scholars.
- Publishing articles
on visions of the discipline. These articles provide a forum
for understanding and investigating current trends in research, developments
in fields other than political science, hot topics, and new approaches to
international studies.
- Publishing articles
and items about the international studies profession. Material
in this section might include articles on such issues as publishing in international
studies, approaches to giving job talks and other topics related to professional
development. ISP will also publish some professional news items such
as calls for papers, announcements about summer institutes, and fellowship
and grant annoucements. Prospective news items should be submitted in
electronic form if at all possible.
Pieces on Our Craft.
In each issue, ISP publishes one short article of about 750 words on
the inside back cover. The focus of this section is to create a
scholarly outlet for op-ed pieces aimed at timely topics within the areas of
teaching international studies, applied international studies work, visions
of the discipline, and issues relating to the international relations
profession.
